More than 100 dead after goldmine collapses in Central African Republic

More than one hundred people are dead after an artisanal goldmine collapsed in the village of Zamboye in western Central African Republic. The Guardian reports the collapse, about fifty kilometers from the town of Baboua near the Cameroon border, was caused by a landslide that struck Tuesday afternoon, and local officials say the death toll is likely to rise as recovery efforts continue.
