Laser-cut aluminum foil could replace costly terahertz polarizers

science

Physicists at the ARC Centre for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems are looking for a cheaper alternative to wire-grid polarizers, which are tiny optical devices used in terahertz experiments. As Phys.org tells it, these essential components currently cost thousands of dollars each, leading researchers to explore the use of laser-cut aluminum foil as a replacement.
