LibreOffice 26.8 released

tech

LWN.net reports that LibreOffice version twenty‑six point eight has been released. The update concentrates on three areas: raising typographic quality, extending support for a broader range of writing systems, and improving how faithfully documents survive exchange with other office suites. Among the changes, Writer now automatically detects paragraph direction when opening or pasting text, adjusts line‑wrapping and object resize handles for right‑to‑left and vertical CJK layouts, and shows bidirectional control characters alongside other formatting marks; Calc also sets cell direction automatically when right‑to‑left text is entered. LibreOffice, the open‑source office productivity suite, aims to make working with right‑to‑left scripts and vertical CJK layouts smoother for users.
