The Australian government is considering making social media algorithms optional—so users can choose whether to use them—and is examining a recent UK ban on depictions of strangulation and suffocation in pornography. Per The Guardian, social services minister Tanya Plibersek said social media is playing a major role in the rise of sexual violence among teenagers and choking incidents. These options are being developed as part of the government's second action plan to end family and domestic violence against women and children.
