NASA Deep Space Network’s New Goldstone Antenna Goes Online

NASA Science reports that a new thirty‑four meter, one hundred fourteen foot, multifrequency beam‑waveguide antenna—designated DSS twenty‑three—has been brought online at the Goldstone Deep Space Network near Barstow, California. A ribbon‑cutting ceremony on Aug. twenty‑five, two thousand twenty‑six marked the antenna’s completion, the latest addition in the network’s Aperture Enhancement Project that began back in two thousand nine. The dish will expand the Deep Space Network’s capacity, strengthening NASA’s ability to track, command and receive data from distant spacecraft for decades to come. Managed by JPL, the network’s upgraded capability positions it to support both current and future deep‑space missions.
