Man accused of ordering Daphne Caruana Galizia murder paid hitmen’s legal fees, court hears

world

Prosecutors claim Yorgen Fenech, heir to one of Malta's largest fortunes, spent more than four hundred thousand euros on legal fees for the men convicted of murdering investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. Fenech appeared in court Thursday for the second day of his trial, accused of commissioning the bombing that killed her. According to The Guardian, he's currently under house arrest with a record bail of fifty million euros. Prosecutors argue the legal spending demonstrates his direct involvement in orchestrating her death.
