Weather tracker: Thunderstorms strike across Europe amid record heatwave
world
Severe thunderstorms have swept across parts of Europe on top of an already exceptional heatwave, with France, Germany and Poland hit especially hard. The Guardian reports that hailstones the size of golf balls fell on French villages, while the storms brought flooding, strong winds and heavy downpours. Such storms are common during and after intense heat, but this week's have been unusually extreme. The Guardian notes the turbulent weather comes alongside deadly monsoon rains in Bangladesh.
